Skin Saviour | Elemis Freshskin Matte Moisturiser

Elemis FreshSkin Moisturiser

Hi my name is Jacquelyn and I am the world’s worst blogger! Sorry people. I’m so bad, but blogging is a hobby right? And it’s difficult to fit it in sometimes when your working full time. Speaking of work, I just applied for a full time job at my work. Aaaaaah. Scary stuff. I’m nervous already. I hope they interview me. This kinda means I’m an adult. I just applied for an adult job. Not a graduate job. No. A real life adult job. I really hope they interview me, even if I am relatively inexperienced. I want this soooo bad. Will be weird getting interviewed by people I know. Do I picture them naked or not? One of lifes many dilemmas. I think I will probably try not picture them naked because that is the worst interview tactic anyone has ever told me. Anyway, I’m stressing out here for no apparent reason. Which brings me on to my skin saviour of the year.

I’ve banged on about Elemis Freshskin before, it is seriously good. Now I love Elemis, but I can’t afford £20 odd for a bottle of cleanser (the lime blossom cleanser is ah-mazing), so freshskin is right up my street. It is aimed at teens to mid twenties, but when did an age recommendation ever stop anyone using anything? ‘Oh look this moisturiser is for teenagers, I better not use it’ said no one ever. If we get into technicalities I am still early, verging on mid twenties so I fit the bill perfectly. My skin is weird – dry in places, but my nose? Well if you wanted to I’m pretty sure you could crack an egg on there and fry it some days. It has mahoosive pores in there too, kinda like looking at a greasy moon is the way I would describe it. Not cool. I’ve always been plagued with big, disgusting spots on my nose every now and again, but generally other than a few tiny white lumps here and there the rest of my skin is clear.

Moisturisers and skin care can be problematic. Do you buy one for dry skin and risk making the oil rig that is your nose worse? Or do you buy one for oily skin and end up turning the rest of your face into a dry and barren dessert? Or do you buy both and have two sets of skin care, taking up precious space in the shower? First world problems here. Well in my teenage years, I went with the latter. In my early twenties I went with the former. Neither was ideal. Now, well now I have found a moisturiser that works for me. Ladies and Gentlemen let me introduce to you the Elemis Freshskin Skin Clear Mattifying Moisturiser.

The packaging is fairly plain and colour coded. Anything blue is for mattifying your skin and anything pink is for normal skin. I think that because this is fairly plain, you could give it to boys as well as girls. It is important to treat your teenage skin right –  I remember my brother looking after his and he has fabulous skin for a man now. I can see mums and grannies buying this for their teenagers for Chrimbo. Points to Elemis. The pump dispenser works and doesn’t clog, not much else to say here.

The texture, hmmm. Not too thick, not to watery. Exactly what you want from a moisturiser. It spreads evenly on the face and absorbs really well. Typically I give this around 5-10 minutes to soak in whilst I dry my hair before applying any makeup and I am left with no oily residue on my face. I do find that when I use this my nose gets marginally less oily during the day than if I don’t use it. Winner. This contains shea butter for added moistures and bergamot which is antiseptic to help reduce spots. It also contains cucumber and witch hazel, which are pretty common skin care ingredients for moisturising and fighting spots. I cant’t say that this noticeably reduces spots on it’s own, but combined with the serum from this range, it definitely does. Elemis don’t use any nasties – parabens, SLS etc in any of their products which is a bonus.

Okay, so the downside – it is quite pricey. £21 for a 50ml pot from Feel Unique. It is worth it though, trust me. It is my skin hero and a dessert island product.

Have you tried Freshskin? Did you love it as much as me? Can anyone recommend a nice face scrub, I am on the hunt?

UK Box Swap with Cats for Life

It’s been a while since I blogged hasn’t it? So this post is a good way to ease me back into it. I know your probably sick of me saying I am busy at work, but it’s true! Topped with an untimely visit to A and E, a horrible cold and the landlord deciding to replaster the house we stay in, I’ve been pretty busy. I move department again in a few weeks time, so looks like the 12, 14 or even 16 hour days could be a thing of the past for me. I really love my current department and although this past 2 weeks have been insanely busy I will be really sad to leave. I’ve enjoyed getting stuck into different things. The replastering of our house came at the totally wrong time and there is just stuff everywhere. It’s horrible. It’s even a struggle to sit down at my computer and write this post.

Anyway, I arranged this box swap with the lovely Jordannah back in the new year and we had originally planned to do the swap in March/April time around Easter. We ended up delaying it as Jordannah was on holiday for a few weeks and before I knew it, it was June! I actually got my box a few weeks before Jordannah, even though I posted her box before she posted mine. Her boyfriend ended up forgetting to take the box with him, so poor Jordannah had to wait over 3 weeks to get it from him! I felt pretty bad for her, but eventually she got her box, so we agreed we would show you all what we got!

I was so excited when I opened the box by the sheer amount of things she had managed to cram into our budget. I felt like my box was a little lacking in comparison. I couldn’t wait to rip off the cute orange and red tissue paper and see what was in store. And boy I was not disappointed! Jordannah also included a really cute little cat postcard – we both love cats. I thought the yellow cards that were stuck onto each of the little bundles explaining why she included things was a great idea.

Vichy Idealia Smoothing and Illuminating Cream

‘I had too many of these Vichy Serums lying around so thought you would love one!’

Thanks 🙂 Jordannah! I had seen Vichy on so many blogs as it seems a staple product in those monthly subscription boxes but had never tried anything myself. This little 3ml tube will be fabulous for taking on holiday as it won’t eat into my liquid allowance too much. I’ve put this away in my drawer of holiday sachets, so hopefully it wont be there too long before I get to use it!

Montagne Jeunesse Chocolate Masque

‘And who can say no to a chocolate face mask?!’

I love Montagne Jeunesse Face Masks. I actually have a tube of the chocolate and orange face mask, which I love and I imagine this one will be pretty similar. Mmm chocolatey.

Simple Kind to Skin Refreshing Facial Wash Gel

‘And to a bit of simple. Everyone needs some in their life!’

I knew I would forget to photograph something in the bundle. Sorry. Simple is not a brand I am hugely familiar with – I’ve tried a couple of things and I know it is super affordable and gentle on the skin. This wash is soap free and unscented. I’m going to let my other half try this one out too as he has really sensitive skin. This didn’t dry out my skin, or leave it feeling tight.

Garnier Moisture Match Illuminating Light Lotion

‘Hehe, this is the item I had to break into the box, to put in! I love this moisturiser, it’s by far the best drugstore one I’ve found.’

I am so glad that Jordannah delayed sending the box to put this in! Love it so much. I think it is probably the highlight of the box for me. It smells delicious, kinda citrusy and it so light on the skin. After using this my skin feels amazing and soft and not at all greasy. Applying makeup after this is a dream. I am in love. Thank you so much!

Halo Eye Make-Up Remover Pads

‘I really love Halo as a brand and these make-up wipes are really good.’

I haven’t tried these out yet as I generally only use make-up wipes when I am feeling lazy. The packet is so compact that these would be good for a weekend away when you want to keep stuff to a minimum.

Hair and random stuff

Hair and random stuff

Hair and Miscellaneous

Beauty So Clean Wipes

‘I also put in some Beauty So Clean wipes to clean beauty items like lipgloss and lipstick.’

What a brilliant idea these wipes are and I will definitely make full use of these. More often than not I am cleaning up palettes and lipgloss, so this will be a much more hygienic than a tissue.

Batiste Original Dry Shampoo

‘For hair I love Batiste. Its a life saver.’

This can is so cute and compact and would be perfect for a festival. I don’t use dry shampoo as a shampoo, I tend to use it more for backcombing. Once my current can is finished, I will be giving this a try.

Tresemme Hair Shot

‘I also got a little hair conditioner shot for a little pick me up.’

I could really do with this right now, my hair is an absolute mess! Thanks for including this Jordannah, you must have read my mind. Once the replastering is done in my house, I will be having a pamper session, so will whip this out then.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Hydrate

‘For lips I’ve put in my all time fav baby lips – I’m already on my second.’

I’m surprised Jordannah has managed to go through one of these already! I haven’t tried this Baby lips before, but I have the Mint one which I love the smell of, but don’t find too moisturising. Hopefully since this one is actually targeted to moisturise the lips that it will far better.

Makeup goodness

Makeup goodness

Collection Cream Puff in Cotton Candy

‘These collection Lip Puffs are great too! I chose a pretty standard colour just in case!’

They are actually amazing. The colour is perfect for me and compliments my skin really well. I love the idea of these, they dry to a matte finish but apply like a gloss. I managed to get around 2-3 hours wear from this and it did transfer a little when eating and drinking. One thing I noticed was that it required good lip preparation before so that my lips didn’t look flakey and liney.

Natural Collection Blushed Cheeks in Peach Melba

Ah good old natural collection. I used to love natural collection when I was in school as everything was so affordable. I was pleasantly surprised by how pigmented this blusher is and how smoothly it applies. This colour is really natural looking, so perfect for those no makeup days.

Collection Bronze Glow in Terracota

‘ I got you my all time favourite blush and bronzer so you can try out some contouring.’

I am a bad beauty blogger. I don’t contour. I wear blusher and sometimes bronzer and I guess you could say I sculpt my cheeks a little, but I never contour the jawline, hairline or nose. Lets give it a bash with this matte bronzer shall we?

Seventeen Phwoar Paint

‘I bought you my fav concealer of the moment, it says its for under eyes but works great on blemishes too.’

I’ve seen this on a few blogs and have been intrigued. I am the queen of dark circles, so really need something heavy. I haven’t actually tried this under eyes yet as I am worried it will crease, so need to wait for a day when I am not leaving the house but it is fabby on spots. So creamy and the colour is an okay match for my skin.

Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner in Black

‘I really love the collection liquid eyeliner – it’s so easy to do a cat eye with.’

When I saw this I turned away and groaned. I am so useless at liquid eyeliner as my hands are so shaky, so I thought I would just make a mess. I wasn’t wrong. So much mess. Anyway, Brittany from the Beauty deputy had a cool technique to use tape to mark off your area for a flick. I’m gonna get some masking tape and try this out. In terms of formula, I don’t really have any other eyeliners of the liquid variety to compare to, but it seems quite wet, drying to a semi matte finish. I will report back if I successfully manage a flick.

Alima Eyeshadow

‘I also put in a little loose eyeshadow I had but never used. I know you love eyeshadow more than me!’

Awh this was very sweet to get this included. The colour of this is hard to describe, a kinda grey-brown shimmer. I’m going to review this soon as I had never heard of the brand.

Ah how cute is the brush roll? And she hand made it! I was scared to use it incase it gets dirty, but its washing machine safe! Once my house is back in order, this will take pride of place on my dresser. The notebook with the stitched on dolls was a cute addition too. And the swirly gel pens took me back to my childhood.

Haribo, Mikado, Eton Mess Chocolate and Necklace

I already ate most of the strawberry haribo as I opened them at work and shared them with people. The mikado were amazing –  never tried them before. I’m ashamed to say that me and the BF ate the whole box in one sitting. #Piggies

Has anyone else ever down a box swap? Big thanks to Jordannah for agreeing to do this swap with me:)

What I’ve Bought #6 – A Massive Haul

Mac Urban Decay Laura Mercier | theLittleScottishCorner

Mac Lipstick, Urban Decay Anarchy and Laura Mercier Primer

This is so shameful I am going to have to split it in two. Please note that this is everything I’ve bought since Jan/Feb time, so it’s not really that bad? I’ve been missing for a few days after posting every day the past few weeks and that’s mainly because I wasn’t feeling too hot and was working this weekend. It was another Mercedes 1-2 though, so can’t complain 🙂 although I was man-marking my favourite driver on the grid – Jenson Button along with his team mate Kevin and the two Williams drivers. I haven’t actually watched the race yet, so don’t really have a clue what went on, but it is on my to do list! So much to do before I go on holiday on Thursday. Aaah. So this week I will probably only be posting every other day or so. Anyway, on with the haul (or part of it anyway).

First up are a few items I have already reviewed. I got this gorgeous Mac Lipstick in Angel as a present from my other half when we went shopping and I love it. So creamy and pigmented and it lasts on the lips so well. I love it and want another. I am a Mac convert!

Next up was the Urban Decay Anarchy palette, which was also a gift from my other half. Although I didn’t like this as much as the shattered face case, I can still see me using it a lot and I now have the problem of which one to pack for my weekend away? #bbloggerproblems

Finally in this pile was a Laura Mercier primer, which I picked up in a blog sale for £10! Bloggers be raving about this bad boy, so I had to try it. Disappointed I was not! The reason I haven’t reviewed this yet is because it is so expensive, but if anyone would like to see a review let me know! I still can’t believe I got this for a tenner (it was brand new as well).

Real Techniques, Mac, Urban Decay | theLittleScottishCorner

Cohorted Bargains! Real techniques, Mac Highlighter and Urban Decay Primer Potion

If you haven’t heard of cohorted, you are missing out. They have a twitter and facebook, so it is worth a search and a follow. Every Monday at 6pm UK time, they have a series of bargains going live. It’s similar to price drop Tv, where the more people that buy the cheaper it is. These Real Techniques Brushes have been on my wish list as I think the Bare Minerals brush is too scratchy for my skin now and they cost me under £14 all in! If you want a bargain, click fast as they sell out. You basically join the cohort and the lowest price is what you pay.

This limited edition Mac highlighter was another Cohorted buy for only £17.50! RRP £25. Woweee. I really want to highlight more often, and swatches of this revealed it would be perfect for my skin. Worth a try no?

Finally, the Urban Decay Primer potion. Well here is where it gets funny. I ordered one of these from cohorted at the price of £11.20 and they sent me two. I tweeted them with the error and they never replied, this says to me they don’t want the second one returned? I mean I am an honest person, so would return it, but they never replied, so their loss. Should I feel guilty? Oh just a heads up, I actually already own this so was buying for my next giveaway when I reach 200 bloglovin followers – now I have two I might do another random giveaway (maybe for my birthday?).

Sleek Blush |theLittleScottishCorner

Sleek Lovin’ Happened so fast

Wow, this Sleek obsession happened fast. Four blushes. Shades are Pumpkin, Pink Sprint, Antique and Pomegranate. You may remember me mentioning I loved the blush by 3 palette in Pumpkin in my Drugstore Makeup post? I hate Pink Sprint. I will probably sell this one in a blogsale. It doesn’t go with my skin at all. Oh well, at £10 for the palette these are a great way to try new shades. The singles are only £5 too and Antique is gorgeous, but pomegranate is horrible on me. Far too dark. I have to question why I ever thought these deep shades would suit me, cos they just don’t.

Mac and Clinique | theLittleScottishCorner

Mac and Clinique Lovin

Moving on, some more Mac! I picked up this empty quad and the shade Jest in a blogsale and I think it was a tenner all in. I was dubious about Mac paint pots and didn’t want to pay full price for one, so got this one in the shade Rubenesque for £7 in the same blog sale. I love the formula of both the Mac eye products and Jest is my go to shade of the moment. Now I have tried these, I definitely don’t mind splurging on them and can’t believe someone sold these barely used (probably swatched at most) beauties off. Maybe they didn’t suit their skin tone – like my Sleek beauties?

Clinique chubby sticks! At last I have you in my clutches. It seems everyone raved about these, but again the price put me off. This little set of 3 miniature versions was a total steal, however they contain hardly any product. Are the full size ones just as stingy? The colour pay off is quite sheer, except the pink, but these are by no means intense like the name suggests. I still like them though.

Bodyshop Haul | theLittleScottishCorner

Bodyshop Haul

Since QVC stopped selling Ojon Hair stuff, I have been on the search for a good hair care regime on a budget. Herbal Essences was nice, but I settled on the Body Shop Rainforest Moisture and mine has just run out. Last week I picked up another bottle, along with Rainforest Colour to use twice a week to prolong my slightly lighter brown hair.  The lighter brown was a mistake, but my hair lightens easily in summer anyway, so I am keeping it. When I say lighter brown, it is still dark, but more of a medium brown now.

The four miniatures are some of my favourite BodyShop smells/items. I wanted the strawberry shower gel, but it was sold out, so settled on the body puree instead. Chocolate is a new try from the Bodyshop, so I hope I like. As for the Mango lotion and Grapefruit shower gel, these are two of my absolute favourite products (and satsuma too of course). These were bought for my long weekend away in June 🙂

Drugstore Essentials | theLittleScottishCorner

Drugstore Essentials

I actually bought 3 of those foot packs, but used one already haha. They are 99p and are basically plastic boots filled with lotion which you wear for 20 minutes. These are a god send when travelling and you have sore feet – exactly why I bought them. I also picked up some nail polish remover, deodorant and a lip butter which has been raved about by bloggers, Finally I was so happy last weekend when I found the inecto coconut hand cream in Bodycare for 99p in Leicester! I was rationing my tube as it is quite difficult to find, although I now know Savers and Bodycare sell it. It is Lush.

Drugstore Haul | theLittleScottishCorner

More Drugstore

Maybelline Colour Tatoo. I had to buy one and I love it. I got the shade Taupe, which I used in my GRWM post and it is so long lasting.

These 3 nail art kits were only 99p each in Bodycare and are such a find. I’m wearing some of the blue studs right now and they are so far holding up quite well. Great for a  bit of fun.

Free Stuff

Free Stuff

I think I am going to leave my haul here, it has got rather long. This little Aromatherapy Associates kit was free with a magazine. When I say free, I mean I actually paid the £4 or whatever to buy this and it came with a free magazine. Haha.

The Fearne nail wraps and Bio Effect were a gift from my mum and the Eyeko eyelash curlers came free with a magazine. This time I actually wanted to read the magazine…

Boy that was a big haul. I can’t believe there is more! I have issues. If there is anything you would like a review of, let me know and I will try my best. I usually like to test things for a few weeks prior to writing a review, but will let you know 🙂

What have you been buying recently? Do you own any of these products?

Drugstore Makeup TAG|theLittleScottishCorner

drugstore makeup tag|theLittleScottishCorner

I was tagged a couple of weeks ago by the lovely Beth over at Polished Couture to do this TAG and I thought it looked like a lot of fun! I don’t have a massive selection of make-up, but it is growing and I seem to have a lot of things I have seen on other blogs. Hmm! So let’s get on with the TAG shall we?

Here are my favourites:

This has to be the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. I used this years ago and repurchased a couple of months ago and can’t believe how light and flawless it is. Definitely not a foundation for when you need full coverage, but if you want a no make-up day it is worth a look. It just feels so light on my skin and leaves my skin looking flawless, but lets some of my freckles shine through so it looks totally natural. I have the shade sand, which is not quite right for me. It does blend really easily, so if you by one too dark/light it is not a massive issue.

I have mixed feelings about this concealer, but part of it is the shade choice I think? I ordered the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer from ASOS when it was reduced to £3.60 and from a quick look at the provided swatches the shade 040 soft beige seemed a nice match. Reality hit when I got the concealer and it is in fact pretty orange based and far too dark for me. I read some other reviews that even the lighter shades are orange? I have been trying it out on the days when I don’t need to go anywhere and the coverage for dark circles is amazing. It is so creamy and the brightening effect is fabulous. I’m going to try and get my hands on a different shade of this and see if it matches my skin better.

Drugstore Makeup TAG|thelittlescottishcorner

Base Products

I haven’t actually included a photo of a powder as it has been so long since I have used a drugstore powder. I usually stick to BareMinerals Mineral Veil, which has been a staple of mine for years. I used to use Rimmel clear complexion powder, but it had the tendency to smash in my bag 😦 which isn’t ideal. I’ve recently purchased the Rimmel Stay Matte in translucent, so we will see how it fares.

I decided to include a primer in this TAG as I feel it is essential. I got the Maybelline Baby skin a few months ago and although I don’t like it as much as the Porefessional from Benefit, for a budget primer it is really nice. It definitely reduces my pores and helps keep makeup locked in place for longer. It’s only a third of the price of the Porefessional too!

I’ve stopped using bronzer for a while, I’m more into blusher just now. Instead of  a bronzer, I am including this gorgeous blush from Sleek in the shade Coral. This blusher is quite dark and a bit bronze based, so I figure I can get away with it. The blush is really pigmented and blends out so easily, I am in love. I want to collect the entire shade range.

This has to be another Sleek blush of course! I’ve chosen the Blush by 3 palette in Pumpkin, which looks a little scary. I literally just touch my brush on the pan and I have enough product to do my cheek. The colours are very vivid and can be built up for a statement of colour, but I prefer just giving myself a wash of colour. I didn’t think I would like this palette, but surprisingly I do.

Drugstore Makeup TAG|thelittlescottishcorner

Cheek Products

Another strong contender has to be the Maybelline Dream Creamy blush in the shade peach. It looks really natural on the cheeks and blends so easily. The texture is just so smooth and creamy and I think I am in love.

It’s no secret that I am not a huge highlighter fan and I don’t actually own any drugstore highlighters. I must rectify this. In the meantime, I have included Benefit’s Sunbeam. This bronze-gold highlighter is very subtle and works well with my skin tone. The application I initially found a little strange, but once you get used to it the brush works well.

This one I have had for years and rarely use anymore. You can’t even buy this anymore, but it is a quad from No.7. I got this for Christmas from one of my best friends from school, who has now emigrated to South Africa 😦 . I guess you could say I have an emotional attachment to this? The purples went well with my eyes and the sparkle was perfect for a night out. Fall-out was an issue, but the brush was surprisingly good quality.

I’ve also included a new found love in the form of Maybelline Colour Tattoo in permanent taupe. I used to love the Maybelline mousse shadows, so it is only fitting that I love these too. The staying power is great and application is a dream.

Drugstore Makeup TAG|thelittlescottishcorner

Eye Products

These eyeliners are still on sale in the drugstore, just with a little jazzier packaging. I used to have a black one too, but it has run out. Oh yes, it is the Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil. The white is great for those hungover days when you need to brighten your eyes (those days are few and far between now!) and the lilac used to be my colour of choice for above my upper lashline. These are great for the money, really soft and pigmented. Does anyone care to explain what Kajal means?

Soap and Glory is at the higher end of drugstore and this is the first piece of makeup I have tried from them. I got this mascara as part of a gift set, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have purchased it. The brush is great and the formula is quite nice to work with – not too wet and not too dry. It isn’t the blackest of black, but it does seem to stay on my lashes well.

Lipstick/Lip Balm

I’ve included a lip crayon, lip gloss and lip balm here.  First up is this lovely lip crayon from Ted Baker. It is a gorgeous shade of pink and it wears really well on my lips before fading.

I am absolutely gutted that this is my last Nivea Care Gloss as they don’t make these any more. I stocked up in Boots a few years ago when they were on offer after Christmas. This is a gloss with a  difference – it is not sticky and actually cares for your lips. My favourite colour was the peach one as it looked so natural, but I like the red too. I might have to ration myself on this one.

Finally this lip balm from the Bodyshop. The honey version isn’t my favourite, but I have told myself I must finish it before opening the mango one. The bodyshop lip balms smell delicious, but this one is a little drying. There are so many flavours available and they are often on offer.

Drugstore Makeup TAG|thelittlescottishcorner

Lips and Nails

Nail Polish

This wan’t in the original TAG, but I had to include it! I am a nail polish hoarder, fiend, demon, collector – whatever you want to call it. I’ve recently rediscovered Orly nail polish. These are available for £5 in Boots and the two colours I am loving right now are very in season. The gorgeous Lemonade which I used in my Easter Manicure and Blue Belle. Blue Belle is special to me as it was bought for me by my other half. He normally complain that he prefers my natural nails, but one day went out and bought me this lovely shade.

Have you done this TAG? Leave me a link in the comments if you have! Are any of these products in your favourites?

Thrifty Thursday # 3|Sleek MakeUp Coral Blusher|Swatches and Review

Sleek Coral Blusher Swatches and Review|theLittleScottishCorner

Showing the size of the Sleek blush next to other products

Its been a while since I’ve written a Thrifty Thursday Post and coincidentally the first one was also a blusher. I like this blusher better. I like it so much that I have made a massive dent in it already. For me this blusher is almost a bronzer. It’s not really what I would think of as being coral, that’s for sure. I’ve had so many comments from people when wearing this on how ‘glowy’, ‘healthy’, ‘tanned’ and even ‘beauutiful’ I look. It has quickly become a staple in my daily makeup and I don’t remember the last time I used a blush that wasn’t this one on a work day. My silly drop box deleted some photos and my packaging is now quite badly scratched, so I’ve decided not to show it. Apologies for the photo of the used blush, silly dropbox!

The big mirror inside

I was initially sceptical about Sleek MakeUp, as we got off to a bad start. Fast forward 3 months and I’ve accumulated 4 out of 11 of their shades and 2 of the blush by 3 palettes. I really love these blushers that much and at a fiver a piece, you can’t go wrong. The packaging is simple matte black plastic – very sturdy and it definitely won’t open in your hand bag. One of the reasons we got off to a bad start is that I broke a nail trying to open this little blighter. I mean not cool. Anyway, it’s not just the coral shade the other 3 I have are stupidly hard to open but the blush by 3 palettes are find. I’ve found a system now, I just don’t close the lid fully. If I need to take the blush anywhere for on the go use, I wedge my house key into the packaging to open it. Quite effective really. I like that these include a good sized mirror in the lid and that it’s an actual mirror not just a  plastic piece of rubbish like you would find in a fun house. These are also insanely compact for the 8g of product you get in them. For reference it is about a third of the size of my mobile phone which is a Sony Xperia U and is similar in size to an HTC One or Iphone 4.

Unused blusher, not a great colour representation

Sleek Coral Blusher Swatches and Review|theLittleScottishCorner

Sleek Coral Blush in the pan

Pigmentation of this little beaut is fantastic. The first while I had this, I couldn’t quite get the amount I needed on my brush right and was a little bit orange. It’s cool though – nobody noticed! This is definitely more brown in colour than orange, but I really love the healthy glow it gives me. The texture of the blush is quite hard in the pan and when you first get it I would recommend sticking your finger in there and rubbing it around a little to break the surface. There is some micro shimmer in the blush, but when it is on the face it is barely noticeable.I really love how blendable these are and how pigmented it is. I also really love the price. Wear time is really good, this starts to fade on my skin after around 7 hours, but even after a full 14 hours at work there is still a trace of this on my face. Fantastic.

Blended Swatch

Sleek is currently part of the massive 3 for 2 offer at Boots or you can buy the blush individually for £4.49 from Boots and Superdrug.

Which Sleek blush should I buy next and is there any you would like me to review? I have Pixie Pink, Pomegranate and Antique. I’ve never tried anything else from Sleek, but any ideas on what I should buy next?
